Pen & Treadmill Upgrades

Prerequisites
In-Game Cash
Checked

Maximizing progress in Impossible Animals requires balancing your two main home-base facilities: the Pen (where hybrids earn money) and the Treadmill (where hybrids gain levels).

1. The Pen (Idle Income Facility)

  • Function: Holds your saved hybrids. Each active hybrid displays a green float label above its head showing its $/s earning rate.
  • Capacity Limits: Your starter pen holds only a limited number of hybrids. Once full, newly fused creatures cannot roam or produce cash.
  • Upgrades: Upgrading the pen increases maximum capacity. Prioritize pen upgrades whenever you create higher-tier hybrids that cannot fit into your current enclosure.

2. The Treadmill (Combat Leveling Facility)

  • Function: Increases creature combat level. When you place a creature on the treadmill, it begins running and generates XP every second (visible as floating +XP notifications).
  • Leveling Curve: Levels increase your hybrid's Max HP and attack damage, which are critical for passing recommended level checks in The Wild.
  • Upgrades: Upgrading the treadmill increases the base XP awarded per step, dramatically cutting down the time required to prepare for zones like Jungle (Lv. 4,250).

What Not to Buy First

  • Do Not Buy Instant Cash Packs Early: Early cash packs offer fixed sums that become obsolete once you deploy 8★+ hybrids. Reinvest idle cash into pen capacity first.
  • Evict Before Upgrading: Before spending cash on pen expansion, make sure you have already sold or removed $1/s starters.
